John Stanbridge has has a couple of mentions. A decent guy - Currently resident in a congregation somewhere in East Anglia. I saw him at a Circuit Assembly that I attended with family
We had John as Co ,must have been the mid nineties.A more boring speaker you couldnt hope to meet,but on a one to one basis he was a thoroughly decent,in fact shy,Man.A good memory .Before him we had Jim Cleary..a cliquey little Man with no interest in anyone but the chosen few..his missus was a nasty little Woman too.I have heard he was eventually taken off...anyone know if this is true or not?

apparently there's a new tract being released as an invitation to the memorial this year.
i gather there was a new tract released to invite people to the conventions last year and this is something similar.

we were talking about the whole df thing and my point is that what jw's do is not bible-based.

i read that david beckham is leaving real madrid and coming to the us to play for the la galaxy.
soccer is not that popular in the us and that is a obscene amount of money to pay a player and i am surprised that david beckham would want to finish out his career playing in the us.

Imo we (England )may have done better in the last World cup without him..probably the 2002 one too!Though i have to say he always ran his heart out for the Team..just wasnt in the right position.

the thread on the wt going into the red, and the remark on "cheap paperback bibles" made me think of the old green nwt.. there was a lot of buzz back then about why it was green.
i heard these from various cos -.
a) it was green to prove that it was not from christendom.
When i toured bethel hq a few years back,the guide told us that Knorr was obsessed with the colour green?Being the colour of creation and all that.maybe that had something to do with it?I believe he was in charge when the green NWT came out.

it's not always like this i know but i'm wondering if life would be far easier for me and my wife if i just drew a line under all my efforts to maintain a relationship with my jw mother, brother and sisters.
all the rejection, judgementalism and condescension gets a bit much after a while.. how many here actually said 'goodbye' to their jw family and can honestly say they did not regret it?.
There's a natural animosity between children and parents and there's an automatic love and trust between grandchildren and grandparents. That's why grandparents who are Witnesses are so dangerous. The children will go with the grandparents and shun the parents
Worked the other way round with me.Childhood was shit for me and my brothers because of JW fundaMENTALIST parents.However my (worldly)Grandparents were respectful of my parents religion..the opposite of my parents views i hasten to add...and were wonderful to us kids.I mean really wonderful.That was always in the back of my mind and i have a great realationship with my surviving Grandparents now....and have completely cut off the Parents.Theyre loss.I couldnt give a shiney shite about them.
It sounds horrible i know,but thats the way it has to be.Too much shit and rubbish has gone under the bridge...many completely unforgiveable things were said when i left that stoopid religion.
On the other hand ive rediscovered some wonderful Cousins,Uncles etc etc who were once deemed unworthy!
Ive gained much more than ive lost ,thats for sure.
